Marvin Lee Green
1930-2025
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Marvin Green. Born and raised in Porterville, Marvin peacefully took his last breath there 95 years later. Marvin was a true outdoorsman, being an avid hunter and fisherman who previously held four fishing world records.
He was quite the athlete, playing many sports, but football was his passion. He played 4 years in high school, 2 in junior college, and 2 more years at Fort Benning, Georgia, while serving in the Army Airborne. His commitment to both his sport and his country was a testament to his strong character.
Marvin spent several years as a Forest Ranger and then transitioned to Pacific Bell, where he retired in 1985. Even in retirement, Marvin remained incredibly active with a passion for cutting wood and belonging to several clubs and organizations, including being an Elks member for over 75 years.
Above all, Marvin cherished family. He was a loving and devoted husband to Helen for over 54 beautiful years, and as a father to Jeff and Michelle, he instilled values of hard work and integrity.
It was his role as "papa" to his 6 grandsons that was his true joy. He also held a special place in his heart for his son-in-law Gus, and as an uncle to Dane and Vickie Guelker. Our family is deeply touched and forever grateful for the outpouring of love and support from the many friends who selflessly contributed to making Marv's final years so incredibly special and filled with wonderful memories.
