Lucy Fabela Flemate

Lucy Fabela Flemate, a lifelong resident of Porterville, passed away on Tuesday, July 1, 2025. She was 85. She was born on September 14, 1939.

Lucy was born in Porterville to Enrique and Florence Fabela. She attended Vine Street School, Bartlett Jr. High and Porterville High School.

Lucy married the love of her life Fernando Flemate in December 1959 in Porterville. They have two daughters, Laura Flemate Ogás and Sandra Flemate and one grandson Eric C. Ogas.

Lucy worked for the Porterville Unified School District for 30+ years at John J. Doyle School as a Teacher's Assistant. Her talents were sewing her daughter's clothes, crocheting, and decorating cakes. She loved being outdoors, especially camping with her family at Pismo and Oceano Beach. Music was always a beautiful part of her life. Lucy loved singing and would often fill her home with songs from her childhood. Some of the happiest memories of her were her dancing and singing with her family, laughing and moving together to the rhythm of love and joy, especially with Fernando.

Lucy is survived by her sisters, Margie DeLaCruz, Jennie Plata and Shirley Maestas. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Danny Fabela, Richard Fabela, Henry Fabela, Ruben Fabela, Louie Fabela, and Robert Fabela; sisters, Rita Gonzales, Dolores Moran, and Mary Gelinas.

The family would like to give a special Thank You to Riverwalk Convalescent Facility and Seva Home Health (Hospice) for the special care our mother needed. Charm, Rose, Maria, Stephanie, Brenda and many others who embraced her, Thank You!! We are forever grateful.

A Visitation will be held at Myers Chapel in Porterville, California on Monday, July 14, 2025 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A Rosary will be held at Myers Chapel in Porterville, California on Monday, July 14, 2025 at 6:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Anne's Church in Porterville, California on Tuesday, July 15, 2025 at 9:00 AM. Interment to follow at St. Anne's Cemetery in Porterville, California.
