Lonnie W. Vinson, of Lindsay, died January 17, 2026. He was born October 31, 1949, in Red Bluff, California. Lonnie was drafted into the United States Army Infantry during the Vietnam Era, where he served with distinction. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army and is remembered as a proud and dedicated veteran. Throughout his life, he respectfully shared accounts of his service in Vietnam and honored the comrades with whom he served. While in the Army he earned a National Defense Service medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Bronze Star, Vietnam Campaign Medal, 2 Overseas Bars, Sharpshooter (M14-16), Air Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge and Combat Medal. At the time of discharge, he held the rank of E-5. Lonnie had a special place in his heart for his classic vehicles with his beloved dogs, Jack and JD. He could often be found tinkering under the hoods, perfecting every detail. He loved showing his classic vehicles and won awards for them. Upon his retirement Lonnie was a proud business owner in the Porterville community, he was known for his unique strong personality and love for his family and friends.
Lonnie is preceded in death by his parents, Blondie Vinson, Roba Dubuque and brother Bob Vinson. Lonnie is survived by his wife of 21 years, Maggie; daughters, Megan Vinson, Kristen Newbre, Beatriz Martin and Patricia Aguilar grandchildren, Jake Holmes, Aiden Stubbs, David Aguilar, Esabell Martin, Ricky Martin, Taylor Aguilar and Madilynn Aguilar. Great Grandson: David T. Aguliar; his brother, Joe Vinson; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. His presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. A Celebration of Life will be in Lindsay, California at China's Alley on January 30, 2026 from 1PM - 4PM. Military Honors Service will be held at Bakersfield National Cemetery, 30338 Bear Mountain Blvd., Arvin, California at a later date.
