Karin Baker Wiseman was born on July 30, 1942, in Porterville, California, and passed away peacefully on May 22, 2026, in Bakersfield (age 83). She was preceded in death by her parents, Albin and Mary Baker, and by her husband, Linn Wiseman. Karin will be remembered most for her steady devotion to her family and for the warmth she brought to those around her through her heartfelt kindness, compassionate spirit, and genuine, million-dollar smile. She loved others with her whole heart and was always there with a listening ear, a warm embrace, and gentle guidance. Her legacy lives on through the love she gave and the lessons she taught her children and grandchildren.
Karin married Linn on March 1, 1975, in Porterville, and together they spent the next 21 years in Cypress, southern CA where Linn worked as a Utilities Watch Engineer for Edison and Karin worked as a receptionist for various businesses and as a transcriptionist for several insurance companies. During Linn's early retirement years, they moved to Canyon Lake, where Linn continued with consulting work while Karin also worked for several more years. They even spent about six months living in Guam during one of Linn's consulting assignments. After several years of semi-retirement, they returned to central California in 2004, first settling in Springville until Linn's passing in late 2021. In 2022, Karin moved to Sierra Hills in Porterville. They were longtime members of Trinity Lutheran Church, where her faith remained an important part of her life.
Karin especially cherished hosting family gatherings and playing Mexican Train with her children and grandchildren. She found great joy in bringing people together and making everyone feel welcomed and loved. Her life was marked by patience, generosity, and a deep care for others that touched all who knew her.
Karin is survived by her four children and their spouses, Jeff and Kerry Fields, Eric and Amy Fields, Stephanie and John Herbert, Rob and Kirsten Wiseman; by her eight grandchildren and their spouses, Jaclyn Fields, David Fields, Kevin Fields, Scott and Kathleen Fields, Andrew and Lily Auburn Fields, Tanner Town, Cami and Jim Heimos, Rachel and David Phillips; by her three great-grandchildren, Lavender Fields, Mia Heimos, Sawyer Heimos; by her three siblings and their spouses, Frances DePaoli, Elisa and David Parker, Stephen and Kate Baker; and by her many nieces and nephews.
A service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Porterville, Calfornia on Wednesday June 24, 2026 at 10:30 AM. Burial of her ashes will take place in the Woodville Cemetery.
