Juanita Rodriguez

Juanita Baez Rodriguez was called to be with our Lord on December 22, 2023. She passed peacefully in her sleep and had been surrounded by family and friends. She was born March 8, 1934 in San Ciro, San Luis Potosí, Mexico, to Teodoro & Lorenza Baez. In 1950, Juanita immigrated to the United States with the love of her life- Angel. They settled in Harlingen, Texas where they started the Rodriguez family. They moved to California in 1957, where both were migrant farm workers and raised their growing family. She was very active in the Catholic Church, and spent considerable time and effort over the years, providing food to those less fortunate.

Juanita is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 73 years- Angel. She is survived by one sister-Guadalupe Ibañez, her 8 children: Martha Zegers (John) of Tulare, Christina Medina (Paul) of El Camino Village, Tony (Leticia) of Fresno, Silver (Sandra) of Torrance, Angie Avina (John) of Porterville, Mary Fernandez (David) of Porterville, Martin of Jurupa Valley, and Ramiro (Sheri) of Valencia; 24 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. She loved her family and was extremely proud of her children and grandchildren.

Juanita was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was quick to help others in need and served our Lord in countless ways. She was kind, generous and caring and was quick to step in to assist anyone in need from the community. She was an excellent cook and well known for her delicious prize-winning salsa. She had a flair for gardening and took great pride in her year-round growth of beautiful flowers and plants.

Her life was filled with the joy of family and friends and she will be missed by many. Her faith was an integral part of her life and she cherished the time spent worshipping our Lord. A Visitation will be held Myers Reception Hall in Porterville, California on Sunday, January 7, 2024 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM with the Rosary recital starting at 6:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Porterville, California on Monday, January 8, 2024 at 11:00 AM. Interment to follow at St. Anne's Cemetery in Porterville, California.
