Irma Dora Gracia

May 22, 1952 — March 31, 2025

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Irma D. Gracia. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend. Peacefully surrounded by her loving family, our mom passed away Monday, March 31, 2025. She leaves behind a legacy that spans four generations.

Irma D. Gracia was born on May 22nd, 1952 in San Juan Texas, to Juan and Leonor Reyna. Her family re-located to Tulare County in 1959, where she attended Vincent Elementary School located at the Woodville Labor Camp. Her parents then purchased a home in Porterville in 1965, where she attended Porterville public schools. As a freshman in 1967, Irma was part of the first group of students to attend Monache High School, Porterville's new high school. She then returned to Porterville High School, graduating in 1971. In high school, Irma excelled in Home Economics and became an excellent seamstress and a wonderful baker. Her desserts were always the most anticipated dishes at all family gatherings. Her coconut white cakes and her chocolate, caramel and pecan brownies, were the most requested!

Irma's desire to work in the healthcare field began when she was hired at the Hacienda Convalescent Hospital while still enrolled in high school. She was a wonderful and caring CNA who loved working with her patients; her career as a CNA spanned over 50 years. Her compassionate and nurturing bedside manner continued until July of 2024, where she lovingly cared for her final patient for more than 12 years, while employed at Just Like Home in Porterville.

In addition to her love of God, Irma's greatest passions were her love of Family and also traveling. Irma initiated and planned family gatherings. She loved spending time with family, especially during their birthdays and holidays. She would plan excursions throughout California; she loved the beach and always made sure to visit restaurants that served fresh fish! Irma especially loved taking trips on her birthday, making sure to request time off from work. Some of her favorite places were Lake Tahoe, Las Vegas, Pismo Beach and Santa Cruz!

Irma leaves behind three children: J.L. Gracia, Ofira (Steve Carothers), Alucema (David Roberts); seven grandchildren: Reisha I. Gracia-Ortega, (Matthew Ortega), Ricardo S. Gracia, Joseph L. Gracia, Stephanie R. Carothers, Ethan X. Roberts, Uriah M. Roberts, Lucas G. Roberts, and one great-granddaughter: Liliana Brooklyn Ortega. She also leaves three sisters: Ruth Reyna, Naomi Reyna-Juárez, and Zoyla R. Dueñas. Two brothers: Juan Reyna Jr. and Joel Reyna, and cousin: Maria Elena Balleza.

Irma was preceded in death by one son: Ricardo Gracia, parents (Juan and Leonor Reyna), two brothers, Rev. Israel Reyna and Noé Reyna; and one sister, Francisca Martinez.

Irma will be missed by her life-long friends with whom she worked as a CNA at both Exeter and Kaweah Delta Hospitals, and her co-workers at Just Like Home. As a member of Landmark Christian Church in Porterville, she will also be missed by her spiritual family.

Irma has now taken her last journey; one in which she will be reunited with her son, "Ritchie," her parents, and 3 siblings. Irma...we love you and will miss the loving way you took care of us, calling us every day, just to make sure we were okay! It is now your time to rest and rejoice in the arms of GOD and be surrounded with HIS eternal Love and Peace! You will live in our hearts and minds everyday...until we meet with you again!
