Herminio "Herman" Martinez

Hermino "Herman" Martinez was born in La Union, New Mexico on April 15, 1946 to Aurora and Domingo Martinez; The family later moved to California around 1955 and settled in the Woodville area, where Herman attended Woodville Elementary School and later Porterville Union High School where he graduated in 1965. Herman served in the United States Navy from 1966 through 1970 and was honorably discharged of that year.

Herman served the citizens of Tulare county as a law enforcement officer for 43 years, beginning his career with the Tulare County Sheriff's Office from 1976 through 1998, serving in several capacities; from Correctional and Patrol deputy, SWAT/STEP (Sheriffs Tactical Enforcement Patrol), Field Training Officer, the first community based Deputy for the Tule River Indian Reservation Tribe and later as a Violent Crimes (Homicide) detective. Before retiring from the county of Tulare after 32 years of service he was a member of the Tulare County District Attorney's Office as a criminal investigator. Herman's final stint in law enforcement was serving for the California Office Of Protective Services as a State Police Officer for the Porterville Developmental Center; his last 11 years, finalizing his 43 years of a distinguished Law Enforcement career.

He was very outgoing and didn't miss a chance to make new friends. His friendly personality was nourished while growing up in a large family of brothers and sisters. Herman's siblings are: Yolanda Martinez, Mary Villarreal (Preceded Herman in death in 2025), Carlos Martinez Sr., Ofelia Martinez, Corina Chaudry, Lucia Salinas, Selia Velasco, and Ruben Martinez.

On April 2nd, 1971 Herman Married Rosa Linda Gonzalez and they were blessed with two son's Russell and Eric Martinez. Herman and Rosa Linda were also blessed with seven grand-children; Brandt, Quentin, Xavier, Cade, Camber, Caylie and Cagen and a Great Granddaughter, Blaze Rosa Martinez.

On July 24th, 2026. Herman lost his hard fought battle against cancer. Herman was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather whom will live forever in our hearts and souls.

A service will be held at Myers Chapel on Friday, August 14th, 2026 from 11:00 AM to noon. Interment will immediately follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Porterville, CA.
