Dewain Darwin Guinn

February 10, 1943 — February 25, 2024

Dewain Darwin Guinn of Terra Bella passed away on Sunday, February 25, 2024. He was 81 years young.

Dewain was born in Sweetwater, Tennessee on February 10, 1943, to Walter Fritz Guinn and Sallie Mae Ingram. Dewain was the youngest of 5 siblings. At the age of 10, Dewain moved with his family to Porterville where he attended Doyle Colony School, Bartlett Middle School and he graduated from Porterville High School in 1960.

In 1964, Dewain married the love of his life, Carol Ann Ebeling. During the 1960's Dewain went to Porterville College and worked at Lindsay Olive. On June 1, 1965, Dewain passed the entrance exam for Southern California Edison where he later became a lineman and ended his 30-year career as a manager in Prefab where he was known as "Mr. Wonderful".

In 1969 Dewain and Carol had their first son, Mark Dewain and in 1973 Lance Michael was born. Dewain worked hard to provide for his family and bought land in Terra Bella in 1975 where he farmed oranges and olives along with working for Edison. Dewain's sons were athletic, and he spent many days after work watching them play ball.

In May of 1997, Lance married Brandi Thompson and in September of the same year Mark married Erin Huffaker. Mark and Erin welcomed Dewain's first granddaughter Peyton Ann in June of 2000. Dewain and Carol enjoyed their first grandchild for 3 years before Carol passed away at the age of 57 in 2003. In 2004 Mark and Erin welcomed their son Parker Bentley. Lance and Brandi welcomed Dewain's third grandchild Lane Michael in 2005 and later in 2007 a little angel, Addison Rani.

Dewain loved spending time with his wife, family and their friends. He enjoyed traveling and attending car shows all over the United States. He was also associated with the Rollin' Relic's Car Club and a member of the National Street Rod Association. Dewain and Carol owned a cabin in Pierpoint and enjoyed spending their free time and holidays in the mountains.

After Carol's passing, Susan Ware, Carol's best friend and who had recently lost her husband Leland, became the best companion, supporter, and caretaker anyone could have asked for Dewain. Dewain and Sue continued to travel with their friends the Cowan's, Bader's and Howard's for many years.

Dewain enjoyed spending time writing his tell all story and sharing it with anyone who would read it. His friend Judi Loren Grace described him as "a man of few words, he had a keen eye, flawless memory and was an observer of life, with a dash of salt and spring-loaded humor".

Dewain is survived by his son Mark and his wife Erin Guinn of McMinnville, Oregon, their daughter Peyton Ann and son Parker Bentley; son Lance and his wife Brandi Guinn and their son Lane Michael of Terra Bella, his nephew David Guinn and his wife Carrie of Exeter along with his lifelong friend, Susan Ware of Terra Bella; and his loving and supportive friends. He is preceded in death by his wife Carol Ann Guinn and granddaughter Addison Rani.

Dewain was deeply loved and will forever be remembered by many.
