David Haskell Dees Jr (Dees) passed away on September 4, 2025 at 47 years old. David was born in Exeter, California on August 18, 1978 to David Haskell Dees and Carolyn Jean Acrey Dees.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, September 16, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Vandalia Cemetery in Porterville, California.
David was a long time resident of Porterville area. He was preceded by his father, David "Papa" Dees; and step-mother, Sue Dees.
He is survived by his sons, Dominic Dees and Dylan Dees; ex-wife, Jeannette Cabatu Dees; Sisters, Keri Skiles (with her husband Scotty) and Tami Wheelock (with her husband Scott) brother, Bobby Thompson; step siblings, Matt Rosa (with his wife Stephanie), Sean Rosa, and Cynthia Rosa; and many nieces and nephews.
David was a 1996 graduate of Monache High School. In 2003 he earned an Associate of Science Degree in Computer and Electronic Engineering Technology (CEET), with Honors from ITT Technical Institute in Ventura, California. After graduating with his CEET, he began his employment with Spartan Computer Services then found his career home with Friant Water Authority (FWA). For 20 years, David was hungry to learn about his FWA home and succeeded in a corner office with the title of Operations Supervisor. He enjoyed the Dodgers and Lakers but was an ultimate Raiders fan. He enjoyed fishing, golf, and bowling with friends and coworkers. David was happy listening to 90's rap music like Eminem and 2000's Nu Metal, like Limp Bizkit. Every morning, David smiled in amusement to Adam Corolla's podcast. Every night, he laughed until he fell asleep from watching the comedy series, The Office. His smile was warm and his laughter was infectious.
When he wasn't at work, you could find him at the beach. David's passion was his sons, Dominic and Dylan. As soon as each son was born he was in love. He did everything a good father could think of. David provided stability, guidance, and consistent emotional support by never leaving their side. When you say, "Dominic and Dylan are such good boys", you are saying David lead by moral example. Family and friends easily saw how Dominic and Dylan mirrored their dad. David gave them their First steps in life. David was and forever will be their hero.
