Cynthia Sue Dickerson, 78, passed away peacefully on January 19, 2026, at Kaweah Health Hospital in Visalia, California, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on August 21, 1947, in Long Beach, California, to Howard and Eula Stuteville, Cynthia was the youngest of three sisters, joining Jean (Stuteville) Bridges and Nancy (Stuteville) Wagner. She spent her early years in Long Beach before her family moved to Porterville, California, where her father worked as an auto mechanic and her mother was a homemaker.

Cynthia attended Porterville schools, graduating from Porterville High School in 1965. She went on to further her education at Fresno College (now Fresno State University), earning her bachelor's degree and a lifetime teaching credential in elementary education. She dedicated 38 years to teaching in the Porterville Unified School District, primarily at John J. Doyle and Belleview Elementary Schools. Cynthia was a beloved and respected teacher, known for her passion and dedication to her students.

Cynthia married her high school sweetheart, Stephen Wales, on August 15, 1970. They had two sons, Kenneth (born 1974) and Darren (born 1976). Tragically, Stephen passed away in 1982, and Cynthia was left a widow. In 1983, she met Mark Dickerson, and they were married later that year. Together, they shared a loving and fulfilling marriage until Mark's passing in 2009. Despite these profound losses, Cynthia remained strong, resolute, and unwavering in her love for her family.

Cynthia's greatest joy was being a grandmother to Kallista and Kamrynn Wales. She cherished her role as a devoted grandmother, and more recently, she found joy in her granddog, Sadie.

She is survived by her two sons, Kenneth Wales and Darren Wales, and her two granddaughters, Kallista Wales and Kamrynn Wales. She was preceded in death by her parents, both her siblings, her first husband Stephen Wales, and her second husband Mark Dickerson.

A Celebration of Cynthia's life will be held on Friday, February 13, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Myers Chapel, 248 N. E St., Porterville, CA. Interment to be private.
