Iva Lucille Howard

Iva Lucille ‘Lucy’ Howard-Essex was born on June 8th, 1932. She passed away on May 6th, 2021, at the age of 87.
She was born in a one-bedroom log cabin in Lansing, Tennessee. Lucille was the last of her five siblings, Anna Pearl Vickers, Nellie McClain, Christen Jenkins, William Lloyd Howard, and Arthur Lee Howard. She also joins her late ex-husband, James Stanley Essex; beloved son, Matthew Essex; father, William A. Howard; and mother, Mary Elizabeth Stewart-Howard.
Lucy is survived by her three children, Sharon Essex-Duffel, John S. Essex, and Mark Essex; sixteen grandchildren; at least seven great-grandchildren and countless nieces and nephews’ and great-nieces’ and great- nephews. Lucy loved art, embroidery, gambling, and most of all her family.
Her viewing will be held at Meyers Chapel (248 N. “E” Street, Porterville, California, 93257) on Monday, May 24th, 2021 from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM. The viewing will be followed by a Graveside service at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Porterville, California at 1:30 PM, and a post gathering at Murry Park at 2:20 PM.
