Alfonso Joseph Ramirez

November 13, 1936 — June 18, 2022

Alfonso Joseph Ramirez died June 18th, 2022 at 85 years old, just ten days after his beloved wife Judy also passed away.
Al was born on November 13th, 1936 shortly after his family moved to Porterville from Brawley, California. The youngest boy of the family, Al was the second youngest of 12 children born to Claro and Petra Ramirez. Al spent his younger years attending school and playing baseball and basketball. Eventually, Al attended Porterville High School, where he met the love of his life Judy in his junior year.
After graduating high school, Al joined the Air Force, and served for four years. Once discharged, in 1960, he and Judy were married in Seattle, Washington. Together they expanded their family and welcomed their sons Robert and Donald Ramirez. Al also attended Porterville College where he studied Business and Accounting, leading him to his future career at the Porterville Developmental Center, “State Hospital”, for over 30 years. His passions included photography, reading and writing, his short stories were full of wit and sarcasm a few pieces he wrote were published in a magazine. He was an engaged member of St. Anne’s Parish. Al loved to take pictures of his family, spend time with grandchildren in Disneyland and Pismo beach, and explore his family’s genealogy.
Al is remembered by his family; including his sons, Donald and Robert Ramirez; his five grandchildren Ashly, Steven, Brian, Carissa, and Sierra; and his two great grandchildren Colton and Rylee.
Alfonso is the last sibling of the Ramirez family to pass on. We also remember Ben, Dolores, Juan, Annie, Joseph, Concho, Jennie, Evaristo, Daniel, Gloria, and Esther.
